The B20 Summit will be held on May 2-3, 2017 in Berlin, Germany. Under the leading motto "Resilience, Responsibility, Responsiveness – Towards a Future-oriented, Sustainable World Economy" representatives from the B20 will meet for the final summit of the German B20 Presidency. The summit will focus on the priorities set in the Taskforces and Cross-thematic Groups and will enable an exchange not only amongst the Taskforce and Cross-thematic Group members, but also with the wider political community of the G20 states.
The B20 is an integral part of the G20 process, representing the entire G20 business community. The mission of the B20 is to support the G20 through consolidated representation of interests, concrete policy proposals, and expertise. Furthermore, the B20 promotes dialogue among policymakers, civil society, and business at the international level.
In the B20, business representatives from the entire G20 develop joint recommendations and advocate specific policy actions across the entire G20 agenda. In addition, the B20 organizes a number of events and provides a platform for exchanges with governments and other stakeholders of the G20 process. Like the G20, the B20 is a perennial process with working activities and events during the entire year.
“Resilience, Responsibility, Responsiveness – Towards a Future-oriented, Sustainable World Economy”
The world economy has become marked by crisis. Uncertainties are growing, having a negative impact on innovation worldwide. In this environment, it is more important than ever that we work towards framework conditions that foster innovation, economic growth, and job creation.
The German Federal Chancellery has mandated the leading German business associations – BDI, BDA and DIHK – to conduct the B20 presidency during the German G20 presidency (B20 Germany). The German government assumed the G20 presidency from China on 1 December 2016, however, B20 Germany was launched on 4 September 2016 with the hand-over from B20 China. The three responsible associations (BDI, BDA and DIHK) maintain a B20 Executive Committee, which takes all significant decisions on B20 Germany by consensus. A B20 Secretariat headed by a full-time B20 Sherpa handles operational implementation. There will also be B20 advisory/advocacy bodies, above all a Business Advocacy Caucus composed of CEOs and business organization leaders from the G20 states. The work of the B20 will take place in task forces and cross-thematic groups. Click here to see B20 priorities.

About the B20
The B20 is an integral part of the G20 process and represents the global business community. Beyond this engagement the B20 focusses on advocacy and fosters the international dialogue between governments, civil society, and the business community. Like the G20 presidency, the B20 presidency is a perennial process and rotates on a yearly basis. The leading German business associations BDI, DIHK and BDA took over the B20 presidency on September 4th 2016. Chair of the B20 is Dr. Jürgen Heraeus.
